SUMMARY:Testing & Monitoring Indoor Air Quality After a Fire: What Contractors Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:Wildfires leave more than just visible damage—they impact indoor air quality in ways that aren’t always obvious. Join us for this essential webinar as we explore how contractors can effectively test\, monitor\, and improve indoor air quality after a fire. \nGuest Speakers: \nAdrian Dybwad (PurpleAir)   \nAdrian founded PurpleAir after creating his own air quality sensor to measure the particulate pollution coming out of a gravel pit near his home in Utah.  \nHe quickly discovered great interest from the community as he made additional sensors. After extremely favorable evaluations from regulators and researchers\, PurpleAir grew rapidly in popularity. PurpleAir is now the largest air quality sensor network in the world. \nAn immigrant from South Africa\, Adrian believes that his previous experience with computer programming and electronics\, along with a significant investment of time\, allowed him to create the sensor and build many of the backend systems that support it. \nJason Scheurer (BEST Techs Contracting Design | Build | Remodel)   \nJason Scheurer has been in the construction industry for over 35 years and is a pioneer in the construction and management of environmentally responsible buildings. He has vast experience as a General Contractor\, Project Manager\, and Project Estimator\, and has been in the Energy Efficiency field for over 20 years. He has built one of the first Net Zero Energy Homes (NZEH) in Downtown Huntington Beach\, Orange County\, California. This home was certified by Build It Green as a GreenPoint Rated home that achieved an astonishing 210 points. \nJason’s mission is to first – “Do No Harm” and help teach and educate the green construction industry and the end consumer about the rights and wrongs of our existing building stock and how to make these buildings perform at their BEST by applying House-as-a-System\, Building Science and Energy Efficient techniques through the standards established by Passive House Institute\, Building Performance Institute\, Build It Green and National Comfort Institute. \nJason is a BPI-approved Super Proctor and holds numerous certifications from the Building Performance Institute\, Build It Green\, National Comfort Institute\, and the Passive House Institute. As a Building Scientist\, Jason takes his profession to heart and educates contractors and homeowners about energy efficiency in residential buildings across the nation. \nIn the past few years\, Jason has recently taken training classes for the Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant (CPHD/C) course\, and recently has taken the training classes for the Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT) course and exam through EMU Building Science LLC back in September\, and is now a Certified Passive House Tradesperson. \nModerator:\n\nCharley Cormany \nExecutive Director of EFCA with over a decade of experience as a home performance contractor. Charley now leads policy efforts\, manages the Clean Energy Connection contractor directory\, and supports contractor success through programs like SMUD rebates. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and connect with like-minded professionals!
