SUMMARY:Contractor Demand Building Program
DESCRIPTION:The Contractor Demand Building Program is a hands-on training initiative designed to support California’s skilled trade workforce in the proper installation of Heat Pump Water Heaters (HPWH). Open to all California licensed contractors and their affiliated installers or technicians\, the program offers in-person training sessions held throughout Southern California Edison (SCE) territory. There is no limit to the number of team members a contractor can send. Upon successful completion of the course\, each participant receives one HPWH unit to install within SCE’s service area. DESCRIPTION:Event Description \nThe building industry will need to electrify buildings at a fast pace if cities and counties are to meet their goals for reducing Carbon emissions. One of the obstacles commonly cited for keeping status quo gas systems in place is limited space in the electric panel serving the building. We will cover how electric panels are sized according to the electrical code and demonstrate tools to double-check those calculations. Options for making existing electric panels work will be covered\, including circuit sharing devices\, innovative solutions for HVAC\, clothes washing\, hot water\, cooking\, EV charging\, PV and battery systems.
