SUMMARY:Heat Pump Advantage
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on\, one-day training led Electrify My Home (EMH)\, by a seasoned California HVAC contractor who’s been where you are. This isn’t classroom theory – it’s practical\, field-proven knowledge built from years of real experience. You’ll walk away with actionable strategies\, installation best practices\, and business insights that helped Electrify My Home (EMH) successfully transition into a heat pump-focused company. \nThis is an in-person event; the location is TBD.

SUMMARY:Builder’s Perspective: Insulation and Air Sealing
DESCRIPTION:Event Description \nInsulation and air sealing are critical aspects of construction\, contributing to improved energy performance\, reduced operating costs\, greater indoor air quality and resiliency during a wildfire emergency. Insulation and air sealing can also contribute to increased construction costs and challenges for building sign-off if not managed effectively. In this course\, we’ll hear the builder’s perspective for sequencing the work\, selecting materials\, training teams on site and getting the results you want. \nLearning Objectives \n\nTalk through options for insulation and air and vapor barriers and best practices for selecting and installing each\nReview the potential negative consequences of thermal bridging in walls and roofs and discuss assemblies that avoid those outcomes\nLearn the application and benefits of rain screens in the central coast climate and different techniques and materials for a rain screen assembly\nLearn big and little spaces that are problem-areas in air sealing and how to use catch them early in construction\n\nLearning Units \n\n1.0 AIA LU pending for this course\n1.0 ZNCD CEU approved for this course\n\nInstructors \nJennifer Rennick\, In Balance Green Consulting \nMike Horgan\, Cairn Collaborative Design Build \nCourse Location  \nZoom link provided upon registration

SUMMARY:Air Handling Unit Fundamentals (Part 2 of 2)
DESCRIPTION:Series Description:\n\n\n\nThis introductory course provides a practical overview of air handling systems and their role within modern HVAC applications. Participants will learn where air handling units (AHUs) fit within the HVAC industry\, the types of air handlers commonly used\, and how these systems support heating\, cooling\, ventilation\, and indoor air quality. The course explores basic system configurations\, key components\, zoning concepts\, and operational considerations across various building types. Participants are also introduced to energy efficiency strategies\, emerging technologies\, and maintenance practices that support improved performance\, reliability\, and energy savings. This course is designed for professionals seeking foundational knowledge of air handling systems and does not require prior design or engineering experience. \nThe objective of this course is that at the conclusion\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the role of air handling units in HVAC systems\nIdentify common types of air handlers and their applications\nRecognize major air handler components and their functions\nUnderstand basic system operation and airflow concepts\nIdentify opportunities to improve system efficiency\n\nInstructor Bio: \nLester Terrance\, HVAC/R \nLester has been active in the HVAC industry since 2003\, including 12 years in the United State Air Force\, seven of those years serving as HVAC Field Supervisor at the US Department of State. He is a licensed Master HVAC in the states of Maryland and Virginia\, an EPA Certified Universal Technician\, and an Authorized Overseas Certified Technician (Multi-stack). Lester is an HVAC Instructor and subject matter expert. Lester earned his AAS in Mechanical and Electrical Technology in 2013.
