This course covers the prescriptive requirements that apply to new ADUs and discusses both minimum requirements and design options for compliance.  Course includes a case study of the instructor’s ADU. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDetermine if an ADU is considered an addition or a new residential building\nConsider envelope options for ADU additions and new ADU’s\nDescribe the renewable energy requirements for ADU additions and new ADU’s (PV / Battery)\nIdentify the HVAC/Domestic hot water (DHW) equipment and HERS verification measures options that provide ADU design flexibility and how utility source (natural gas versus all-electric) impacts those choices\n\nTarget Audience: \n\nBuilder-developers\nContractors\nArchitects\nEngineers\nConsultants\nHomeowners\nCity officials\n\nLearning Units:\nN/A \nLearning Level:\nIntermediate Class: Content is appropriate for individuals who possess a fundamental understanding of the topic and have familiarity with basic terminology and methodology of the subject matter.
