Martyn Dodd will summarize the new and revised requirements in the 2025 Code for single family and multi-family buildings and direct participants to informational and training resources that provide more in-depth Title 24 information. SUMMARY:Title 24: What’s New in the NonResidential 2025 Energy Code
DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThe 2025 Title 24 Building Energy Code is more stringent than prior versions as the CEC aligns Title 24 with statewide clean energy goals. The new standards are intended to pivot the code to emphasize the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in California. Martyn Dodd will summarize the new and revised requirements in the 2025 Code for Commercial buildings and direct participants to informational and training resources that provide more in-depth Title 24 information. Architects\, engineers\, lighting designers\, energy consultants\, contractors\, and building department staff should find this training of interest and directly applicable to their work. \nInstructor Information: \nMartyn Dodd \nMartyn Dodd has written software used in California for Title 24 Energy Code compliance since 1984 and is principal of EnergySoft\, a Bay Area company that specializes in performance-based energy analysis for Title 24 and LEED.  Mr. Dodd has been involved in the California standards development process for the past five decades and has consulted on the Title 24 rules and procedures extensively in that time. \nLearning Outcomes: \nAs a result of attending this course\, you can expect to gain: \n\nAn overview and understanding of the changes in scope\, as well as the new and revised mandatory and prescriptive requirements in the 2025 Title 24 Energy Code for the following areas:\n\nBuilding Envelope\nElectric Lighting and Associated Controls\nMechanical Systems and Associated Controls\n\n\n\nTarget Audience: \n\nArchitects\nBuilding Department Staff\nEnergy Consultants\nEnergy Modelers\nHVAC Engineers\nLighting Designers\nBuilders & General Contractors\n\nPrerequisites: \nParticipants will benefit if they have some background on California’s Title 24 Building Energy Code. See: 2025 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (ca.gov) \nLearning Level: \nIntermediate Class: Content is appropriate for individuals who possess a fundamental understanding of the topic and have familiarity with basic terminology and methodology of the subject matter. SUMMARY:Introduction to CBECC Energy Modeling Software for Nonresidential Buildings
DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis hands-on class introduces the free California Energy Commission’s CBECC Energy Modeling software for Nonresidential buildings. Students will create a simplified model of a building and input data for the various building components. The intent of this training is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to use this software tool to analyze proposed designs and document compliance with the 2022 Title 24 Standards for Nonresidential buildings. \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nGain understanding of CBECC capabilities and interface\nModel Nonresidential building components\, such as\, internal gains\, envelope\, and HVAC systems\nLearn how to generate compliance forms from CBECC and evaluate results\n\nTarget Audience: \n\nDesign Professionals\nEnergy Analysts\n\nLearning Units: \n\nN/A\n\nLearning Level:\nIntermediate Class: Content is appropriate for individuals who possess a fundamental understanding of the topic\, and have familiarity with basic terminology and methodology of the subject matter.
