SUMMARY:Commissioning Heat Pump Systems: The All Electric Building - Part 5 of 5
DESCRIPTION:Part 5 of 5 – April 21\, 2023 (8:30am – 12:30pm) This training series will focus on the design\, commissioning and operational issues associated with heat pumps and heat pump systems with a focus on how this type of equipment can facilitate electrification of buildings and building systems. The content will be divided into five half-day sessions. Each session will stand alone\, but the different training modules will also be inter-related. Ideally people interested in using heat pumps as part of building electrification projects will attend all five sessions.

SUMMARY:Multifamily Electrification 101
DESCRIPTION:Building electrification is advancing quickly with over 40 California jurisdictions adopting reach codes to advance electrification\, which is critical to meet our local and state goals. In this class\, we will discuss the benefits of electrification and the current policy and code considerations\, provide an overview of what should be considered in an all-electric multifamily project (both new and retrofit)\, and explore technologies for electrification for all end uses\, as well as the role of solar PV and electric vehicles. Come learn about what it takes to have a successful retrofit or new construction multifamily electrification project.

SUMMARY:How to Design and Build High-Performance Walls
DESCRIPTION:California’s 2022 Title 24 Residential Energy Code all but requires high-performance walls with exterior insulation while higher-performance home designs\, like Passive House\, requires continuous exterior insulation. This class examines how to design and build high-performance wall assemblies that deliver energy efficiency\, reduce space conditioning loads\, and do not lead to water or moisture failures. Presenter Steve Easley will delve into the best installation practices for air barrier/sealing to meet and exceed building codes.

SUMMARY:Improving Home Indoor Air Quality and Best Practices for Kitchen Ventilation - NOW ALSO ONLINE
DESCRIPTION:Steve Easley uses real world pictures and graphics to sort through the myriad of system choices to help you design and select the most cost-effective system to meet code and beyond. This class explains why properly ventilated\, well-insulated\, tighter\, homes have better indoor air quality (IAQ) and fewer moisture problems\, perform better\, last longer and are healthier to live in than the typically insulated\, “accidentally ventilated” home.

SUMMARY:California Climate Policy Summit 2023
DESCRIPTION:California made historic progress on climate in 2022 — and we have the opportunity to do even more in the year ahead. Together\, we passed the boldest set of climate laws in recent history\, made major investments in clean energy\, and mobilized our elected leaders to stand up to corporate polluters. The momentum is shifting in our favor\, but we still have so much more to do to secure a climate-safe future for all. California is still grappling with prolonged drought\, life-threatening heatwaves\, and devastating wildfires. Our century-old power grid is failing under the stress of the climate crisis\, leaving millions of people vulnerable to power outages during climate disasters. And air pollution from fossil fuels is poisoning far too many of our communities. All the while\, fossil fuel interests are fighting tooth and nail to reverse our hard-fought progress. Against this backdrop\, the second annual California Climate Policy Summit will bring together elected and business leaders\, policy experts\, activists\, and environmental justice advocates to build support for climate policy commensurate with what science demands. The Summit will take place on April 11\, 2023\, at the Holiday Inn Downtown-Arena (300 J Street) in Sacramento\, followed by a lobby day at state legislative offices on April 12.For more info and to Register.
