SUMMARY:The Practical Guide to All-Electric Residential Buildings (Part 1): Why All-Electric\, Solar\, Cooking
DESCRIPTION:Event Description \nThe case for building all-electric is stronger than ever. All-electric homes are cheaper to build and operate\, healthier and more comfortable to live in\, and have GHG emissions roughly half that of mixed-fuel homes. The 2025 California Energy Code makes heat pumps standard statewide\, which will accelerate adoption of all-electric buildings. This 2-part class will show why electric homes facilitate easier energy code compliance. Taught by two instructors who have built all-electric homes for themselves\, and will broadcast live from in front of their heat pump water heaters and induction stoves\, you’ll get an insider view of how to design and build electric homes\, including examples from their professional work\, how to overcome common objections and obstacles\, and lessons learned from the field. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the technologies that enable all-electric homes\, including heat pump heating and cooling\, heat pump water heaters\, induction cooking\, and heat pump clothes dryers. \nLearning Objectives \n\nWhy All-Electric homes are superior to typical mixed fuel homes in terms of cost\, health\, emissions\, and quality of life\nKey products and systems used in all-electric homes (heat pumps for space conditioning\, heat pump water heaters\, induction cooktops\, and electric clothes dryers)\nHow to model all-electric systems for Title 24 compliance\nCost-effectiveness of all-electric designs compared to traditional designs\nSingle-family and multifamily examples plus remodels and ADUs\nQuality of life reasons to consider all-electric designs\n\nLearning Units \n\n1.50 AIA LUs approved for this course\n0.15 ICC CEUs approved for this course

SUMMARY:Drain Water Heat Recovery Manufacturers Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Learn how drain water heat recovery can be combined with a heat pump water heater for efficiency and savings. \n\n\nDid you know it’s possible to recover 40-60% wasted heat from showering? Most households are simply pouring that hot water down the drain\, when they could be harvesting much of the heat energy. On Wednesday\, June 10\, we’ll dive into drain water heat recovery (DWHR) and how it can pair with a heat pump water for even better efficiency and savings. Join us to hear from some of the leading DWHR experts and manufacturers in an exciting roundtable presentation and discussion.

SUMMARY:Embodied Carbon and Passive House
DESCRIPTION:Part 4 of 9  \nThe Passive House standard has empowered design and construction teams to dramatically lower operational energy use and carbon emissions while increasing comfort\, health\, and resilience. Consequently\, many Passive House practitioners seek to expand their climate-mitigation impact by systematically reducing a building’s embodied carbon emissions. In this course\, we’ll deconstruct the meaning of embodied carbon\, the frameworks for understanding it\, and its role in building delivery. We’ll look at the tools\, the strategies\, and case studies. Attendees\, will emerge with actionable understanding and skills to expand their sustainable practices. \nAgenda: \n\nIntroduction and safety message\nImperative of embodied carbon\nMethodologies of addressing embodied carbon\nIntersection of embodied carbon and Passive House\nOptimization of embodied carbon and Passive House goals\nExamples\n\nThe objective of this course is that at the conclusion\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the meaning of the term embodied carbon\, and its implications on building carbon emissions and climate change mitigation\nOutline the framework for understanding embodied carbon and the tools for doing it\nDescribe strategies for implementing low embodied carbon outcomes\, while maintaining the benefits of Passive House performance\nOutline how ultimately embodied carbon reduction and Passive House goals can work hand-in-hand\, supporting optimized climate mitigation and adaptation

SUMMARY:A3 Highly Flammable Refrigerants: Applications and Safe Handling
DESCRIPTION:As the industry transitions away from high GWP refrigerants toward more sustainable alternatives\, hydrocarbons\, classified as A3 refrigerants\, are being reintroduced into a wide range of residential and commercial applications. While these refrigerants offer clear environmental advantages\, their high flammability demands specialized training\, awareness\, and procedures. \nThis course was developed to serve as an instructional resource for working with A3 hydrocarbon refrigerants such as propane (R-290) and isobutane (R-600a). It combines essential background knowledge with step-by-step safety practices\, guided by the latest codes\, standards\, and regulatory requirements. \nUpon completing this training\, HVACR professionals are encouraged to take the A3 Refrigerant Certification exam. The A3 Refrigerants: Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Safety examination validates that a person possesses the knowledge to safely work with A3 refrigerants and helps reduce liability. \nThe 50 question\, closed-book exam covers the following competencies: \n\nGeneral flammable refrigerant safety knowledge\nCore  air conditioning and refrigerant ACR knowledge\nFlammable system service safety\nFlammable system installation safety\nFlammable refrigerant transportation and handling safety\nThe preparation booklet and the certification exam are offered at no cost\n\nCertification Exam Information: \n\nTo be eligible to take the no cost proctored certification exam you are required to attend A3 Highly Flammable Refrigerants: Applications and Safe Handling\nThe certification exam will be administered online on Thursday\, June 25\, 2026 (9am – 11am) PST\nA complimentary e-book will be provided to attendees who complete the training and are interested in taking the certification exam\n\nIf you are not ready to take the exam in June\, this training is still a great opportunity to learn about A3 refrigerants.
