Course Description:

This three-hour workshop will explore the most relevant third-party green building certifications in today’s market. The session will emphasize the importance of prioritizing sustainability in development plans and building design. Additionally, it will highlight how participating in third-party certification programs promotes industry-wide accountability and comparability, driving the built environment toward higher standards of efficiency.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand and articulate what third-party green building certifications are and why they exist.
  • Differentiate between the green building code and third-party certifications.
  • Analyze the ways in which the built environment contributes to carbon emissions and climate change.
  • Evaluate the importance of being able to easily compare the eco-impact of two buildings.
  • Understand the benefits of green building that extend beyond positive environmental impact.
